1. Date of birth
22 September 1984
Director / Head of Employment, DQ Advocates
4. Out of work interests
Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym and being active, eating out and spending time with friends and family.
5. Notable work and/or life achievements include…
Having moved to the Island in 2011 – ostensibly for a 3 year period – I have in that time re-qualified as a Manx advocate, been promoted to Director in DQ Advocates, bought a house!
Professionally, the Island has allowed me to grow. I am a keen advocate of continuous professional development and in recent years have undertaken/passed;
- the Certificate in Company Direction examination in April 2016
- the IOD Diploma in Company Direction course in July 2016
- the Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (“PC.dp”) during the course of 2017
I have also been recently been selected as a finalist for the ‘Institute of Directors (IOD) – Isle of Man Director of the Year’ regional awards.
6. Why did you want to get involved with 30 Under 30?
I think 30 Under 30 is a great initiative aimed at recognising talent at an early stage.
I know from direct experience that there are a number of exceptional individuals who have yet to hit their 30th birthday ‘milestone’ who are nevertheless putting their more senior peers to shame with regards to their drive, motivation and commitment to raise their own standards and/or the standards of those around them.
Such effort is easily overlooked as you attempt to climb the career ladder or make and name for yourself. 30 Under 30 allows the Manx community to celebrate our young stars across all industries and, I hope, motivate others.
7. What are you looking out for from nominees?
I am looking for individuals with self-drive and motivation who have gone ‘over and beyond’ to succeed and/or better the environment in which they operate.
I am particularly interested in those who display leadership qualities or who showcase themselves as innovators and are able to motivate those within their respective fields.
Nominations are now closed for 30 Under 30 2018. Be sure to give the 30 Under 30 Facebook Page a like to be kept up to date.
