DOUGLAS, IOM – The Island’s first National Chips, Cheese and Gravy day will take place next Monday 29th January.
The day was founded by local citizen and mongoose, Gef.
“It seems like such an obvious thing,” commented Gef.
“Chips, Cheese and Gravy has long been known as the national dish of the Manx people. When I discovered there wasn’t a day to celebrate this delicacy, I knew I had to do something about it”
Gef has involved a number of chip shops on the Island, who are offering CC&G at a special price for one day only.
The chippies participating so far are:
Fryer’s Chippy, Onchan – £2.25 (who can also cater for those who are gluten-free, FYI)
Port Erin Chippy & Diner – £3.80
Peel Fisheries Chippy – £3.95
Bourne Plaice, Ramsey – £3.00
“We’ve had a great response from chip shop owners and general public alike. It’s absolutely confirmed in my mind, Manx people love chips, cheese and gravy!”
National Chips, Cheese and Gravy day will be held for the first time this year, and will take place on the last Monday of January going forward.
