Cycling event to return in 2020
After 3 very successful years of Isle of Man Cyclefest, the organisers have decided to take some well deserved time off in 2019.
In a statement released on the event’s Facebook page, the team have promised they still intend to deliver some ‘major cycling events on the Isle of Man next year’ but the full Isle of Man Cyclefest event will return in 2020.
If you attended Cyclefest, you’ll agree that it’s been one of the best events held on the Island in recent years – so we fully support their decision to come back with a bang after a year out.
Over the last 3 years, the team have racked up some pretty impressive stats…
- Over 2,000 cyclists have taken part in competitive and non-competitive events, including several hundred from off-island, travelling from as far afield as Australia, Japan and the USA. (What a boost for the Island’s economy!)
- Cyclefest was named by the UK’s premier cycling publication, Cycling Weekly, as one of the top ten ‘must do’ events for three consecutive years. Cycling Weekly also ran a five page feature on Isle of Man Cyclefest for its Insider’s Guide.
- Cyclefest brought professional cycling back to the Isle of Man for the first time in 13 years, hosting the opening round of the televised Pearl Izumi Tour Series as part of the inaugural festival in 2016.
We’d be lying if we said we weren’t going to miss it next year…but good things come to those who wait eh?
