Andrew Bentley from the Green Party wins the Douglas Council Seat in by-election
The Isle of Man Green Party celebrated their first electoral success, Andrew Bentley was appointed councillor of the Derby Ward. His first public engagement was (naturally) judging a sand castle competition on Douglas beach! Happy days.

Endangered red ruffed lemurs arrive at Curraghs Wildlife Park
A pair of endangered red ruffed lemurs arrived on the Island from two zoos in the UK. There are less than 600 of this type of lemur left in the world, and they have arrived into the Wildlife Park as part of an international breeding programme.
Due to unprecedented demand, Saddleoake Saturdays are being introduced.
Yes, we lost our shit too. Following a V blase announcement on their Facebook page, they confirmed that Saddleoake Saturdays would take place every other Saturday.

St. Ninian’s Pupil Adam Drummond took 3rd place in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championships
15 year old Adam Drummond from the Island headed to Florida to compete in the Microsoft Office specialist exams last month. Adam came 3rd, out of an incredible 1.3 million entrants. We had a chat with him here…
A 13 year-old from the Isle of Man, Charlotte Clark, reached the final of a National Tennis Championship at Wimbledon and won!

Markie completes training to offer painless delivery of chemo drugs
Markie has acquired the complex skills needed to insert a patient’s PICC line – a semi-permanent intravenous line used to deliver chemotherapy treatments, which can last many months. The procedure uses ultrasound technology to guide the siting of the line and the whole process is carried out under X-ray control.
Markie’s training marks the latest step in the development of a nurse-led acute oncology service at Nobles and means all patients can continue to have their lines inserted locally, avoiding repeated ‘needles’ for their chemotherapy and ensuring their treatment is comfortable and safe.
Bruce Anstey popped up at the Grandstand
Everyone’s favourite Kiwi made an appearance at the Grandstand for the FOM and he looked in great health. Bruce is fighting cancer for the second time, and we all wish him well in his treatment. What a guy.
